The fifteenth Lecture takes place on Thursday 9th September at 7:30pm in St. Andrew’s Church, Bilston Street, Sedgley.
The speaker is Ron Moss, a past President of The Black Country Society, a regular local history contributor in the Express & Star and an acknowledged expert on industrial archaeology. His illustrated talk, 'Backyard Industries of the Black Country', recalls the days of chain and nail making and a variety of trades and skills found in domestic settings throughout the area.
The talk is a curtain raiser for the Society’s 2004/2005 programme and Ron’s relaxed and informative manner promises to launch the season in style. This is an opportunity to hear about the harsh working conditions of the recent past – no Health & Safety guidelines to meet in those days!
As usual visitors are invited to come along. Individual talks cost £1 or a full year’s membership is a bargain at £3.
