NEWS (May 2007): AGM / Please Sir

Annual General Meeting plus ‘Please Sir’

The next meeting of the Society takes place on Thursday 10th May 2007 at 7:30 pm in St. Andrew’s Church, Bilston Street, Sedgley.

The short Annual General Meeting is followed by an illustrated talk covering schools and schooling in Sedgley Manor since 1800. Society member, George Blackham, charts the unbelievable variety of local schools over the last 200 years. A timeline marked by Robert Owen’s ground breaking factory school, the crowded Victorian classrooms, the 1944 Education Act and today’s specialist schools.

'Please Sir' promises a friendly back-to-school atmosphere and an opportunity to test your knowledge of "education, education, education".

As usual visitors are invited to come along - admission £1.
