Pits and Holes
The next meeting of the Society takes place on Thursday 12th March
2009 at 7:30 pm in St. Andrew’s Church, Bilston Street,
Sedgley.
The speaker is Graham Worton, keeper of geology and manger at Dudley
Museum and Art Gallery, and nationally recognised expert on the Wren’s
Nest limestone workings. His illustrated presentation focuses on pits
and quarries in Sedgley, Coseley & the Gornals as he takes a fresh
look at the local mineral wealth and its exploitation.
This is an excellent evening to hear stories about mines, miners and
the dangers they faced in harsh, unimaginable conditions.
As usual visitors are invited to come along. Individual talks cost £1.
