The Black Country Miners: A Struggle for Justice - 1850 to 1926
The next meeting of the Society takes place on Thursday 8th February at 7:30 pm in St. Andrew's Church, Bilston Street, Sedgley. The speaker is Keith Robinson a local historian and author with a particular interest in industrial history.
His presentation highlights the appalling working conditions of colliers and cruel hardships of families - eight decades of fighting for decent wages and better safety. A gripping social commentary told through individual stories and naming local mines.
Every Black Country family tree will have mining connections making the evening of interest to anyone wishing to hear about the communities, underground conditions and the attitudes of owners.
